When people search for “MP expenses”, they usually mean the business costs MPs claim back through IPSA — not their salary. This guide explains what is included, what IPSA publishes, and how to look up any MP on this site.

What IPSA covers

IPSA (the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) regulates and publishes claims for costs directly related to an MP's parliamentary duties. Common categories include:

  • Staff salaries and related costs
  • Constituency and Westminster office running costs
  • Travel between constituency, Westminster, and official events
  • Accommodation when an MP's main home is not in London

IPSA publishes these claims regularly. Amounts vary by constituency, role, and how each office is run — variation alone does not indicate wrongdoing.

What this site shows

MP Expenses imports IPSA data and the UK Parliament Members API. For each MP you can see:

  • Total claimed in each financial year
  • Breakdown by IPSA category
  • Itemised claims with links to source records
  • Registered outside interests (separate from expenses)

We do not add commentary or league tables. Our goal is accessibility: public data that is easier to search than raw IPSA releases.
