What is IPSA?

IPSA — the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority — is the body that regulates and publishes UK MPs' pay and business cost claims. This site sources its data directly from IPSA's publications.

IPSA's role

IPSA regulates and administers MPs' salaries and business cost claims — staffing, offices, travel and accommodation connected to parliamentary work. It sets the rules for what can be claimed and publishes the resulting data.

It was set up to be independent of Parliament and government, so that MPs' own pay and expenses are not decided or policed by MPs themselves.

What IPSA publishes vs what this site adds

IPSA releases claims data periodically, in the format and detail it chooses. This site imports those releases and makes them searchable by MP, constituency, party, category and year, with every figure linked back to its IPSA source.
