Who is responsible

MP Expenses is operated by Joseph Ellis, who is the controller for this waitlist. For privacy enquiries or help withdrawing a request, email [email protected].

What we collect and why

We collect your email address, the consent wording/version and request time, confirmation time if you confirm, expiry dates, and hashed confirmation/withdrawal tokens. This lets us confirm that you asked to hear about the proposed tracker and send at most one launch invitation within 90 days of confirmation. Consent is the basis for that invitation. Joining is optional and does not affect your free access to public records.

We do not collect a chosen MP, party preference, political opinion, watchlist or payment details in this pilot. We do not add you to another website's mailing list, sell the list or share it with advertisers.

Email and abuse prevention

Once collection opens, Resend processes your address and the confirmation/launch email on our behalf. Its privacy information explains its processing and international transfers. Website hosting stores the waitlist database. Advertising, analytics and affiliate-click scripts are not loaded on the waitlist or email-management pages.

To prevent automated signups and repeated emails, we use short-lived request counters derived from a keyed hash of the requesting IP and time window. We do not store raw IPs in the waitlist tables. These counters expire after at most 20 minutes. Ordinary infrastructure/security logs are separate from the waitlist; confirmation links use URL fragments so their tokens are not sent in page requests.

Retention and withdrawal

Unconfirmed requests expire after 48 hours. Confirmed requests expire 90 days after confirmation or can be removed earlier using the withdrawal link in the confirmation email. Expired database entries are removed by daily maintenance, also run when the waitlist is used. We will not enable collection until this maintenance and the MP Expenses sender are configured.

If the tracker launches, we may send the one invitation you requested. We will not automatically start a subscription, keep you on an ongoing marketing list or transfer the waitlist into a paid product. Any paid service would require a separate choice and privacy information.

Your choices and rights

You can withdraw consent at any time. You can also ask Joseph Ellis for access to your waitlist information, correction, erasure or other applicable data-protection rights using the contact above. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. No automated decision about you is made from joining.
